Allex Michael: Compared to the extreme price range for vets in Calgary, the Cochrane Animal Clinic is a reasonably priced vet. A big part of their business is cattle, but they have been branching out to include more small animals over the last few years. I assume this keeps their prices competitive, and may also be a strategy to discourage clients from taking their pets into Calgary. Their staff are very friendly, understanding and helpful. They have several qualified and accessible vet techs (which not all vets do), and use the best type of anaesthesia (which not all vets do). But more importantly they work on shelter dogs, so are as or more experienced than other vets. For me, experience is paramount. For a specialized procedure, I would have to do further research to find out if they have the appropriate equipment and expertise etc. Otherwise, will return to them if Ebbey and I are still in Calgary next year. Both Dr. Wennekamp and the vet techs are knowledgable and very willing to answer my questions.
Ebbey's tooth extraction surgery is scheduled for Friday.
